This series is a clear homage which I felt that I had to do because some of the stories written by Lovecraft had such a monumental impression on me when I read them as a kid. The Sea has been such a source of inspiration in both deeply beautiful and terrifying ways. I spent many summers at my grandmother’s house on the Gulf of Mexico right at the Sea of Cortez just spending every minute in, on and around the water. Also sleeping at night in a place with no electricity but candles and strange objects made of things from the sea on the walls distorting in the flickering lights and this going into many strange Sea inspired dreams and nightmares. When I had read some of Lovecraft’s stories, they really came to life in me. It really is the supernatural sea horror tales that I crave the most from this style. Stories like Shadow over Insmouth and The Night Ocean especially because there is a vague but striking familiarity to them that I feel I have been there…
